Northeast will host the first Copeland Hardwood Classic on Monday.
The event, designed to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is named in honor of longtime Northeast girls basketball head coach Alvin Copeland.
The schedule includes six games, with the first beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Houston County girls open the schedule with Allatoona. The Bears (3-15) are coming off a win over Westside, while the Buccaneers (10-9) have won two straight.
The Houston County boys (7-11) beat Westside in overtime on a buzzer beater by Kevin Ellis and will play Riverdale (14-3) at noon.
The event organizers will dedicate the event to Copeland at 1:30 p.m.
Thomasville (12-5) will play Laney (18-1) in a girls game following the ceremony, pitting two of the top contenders for the GHSA Class AA championship.
The Howard boys (2-13) will play Morrow at 3 p.m.
Northeast will close the event with boys and girls games against Stockbridge, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The Stockbridge girls (6-7) will play a Northeast team (5-11) that has struggled lately, losing three straight games.
The Northeast boys (11-5) have won three in a row and will play a Tigers team (7-11) that has lost two straight.
