— Bessie Cofield had been on the Rebuilding Macon waiting list for six months and was very grateful for the help to the outside of her home.

Students from the University of Connecticut painted the outside of Cofield's home on Lamont Street Wednesday morning.

Fifteen students from the school are spending one week of their winter break working with Rebuilding Macon. The group was painting the trim of the house and made a few repairs to the roof.

"I appreciate them coming down here to help a poor little old lady like me," Cofield said with a smile.
