The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shoplifting at Barnes Furs on Cherry Street in downtown Macon.

The call was in reference to an incident that took place Monday about 5 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office incident report released Friday.

Store CEO Ben Griffin showed deputies video footage of the theft of a full-length mahogany mink coat valued at $20,997. The video showed a man stealing the coat. In addition, Griffin said he was in the store at the time and remembers the man, accompanied by two women, acting suspiciously. The trio left the store in a black Mercedes sedan, the report stated.

Upon conducting a store inventory Thursday, Griffin discovered the coat missing. He provided deputies with a copy of the video footage and described the man who stole the coat as a black man between 55 and 70 years old and between 5-foot 8-inches and 6-foot 2-inches tall.
