1. Early season showdown: Mercer and USC Upstate are among the favorites in the conference, and they face off in Macon on Saturday. The Bears split their annual road trip to Jacksonville to open the conference season, while the Spartans will be opening conference play.

2. Another conference opener: East Tennessee State is off to a solid 7-6 start, and the Bucs tip off their A-Sun schedule Saturday at Kennesaw State. The Owls are 0-2.

3. Taking the lead: North Florida routed Kennesaw State and then topped Mercer two days later in impressive fashion. The Ospreys look for a 3-0 start to the conference schedule when they travel to Lipscomb, which is 0-2.

4. Taking the lead, II: Florida Gulf Coast is also 2-0, and the Eagles travel to Stetson on Sunday to face Macon native Corey Williams, whose team is 1-1 in conference play with an overtime loss.
