Wind Advisory posted for Middle Georgia

lfabian@macon.comJanuary 2, 2014

A wind advisory is posted for most of Georgia due to strong gusts expected Thursday evening into Friday morning.

The National Weather Service expects northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph between 5 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.

The advisory stretches from as far south as Americus to the northern border.

With recent rain and moist soil, trees could topple in the strong winds.

Driving is expected to be difficult especially for high profile vehicles.

People are urged to secure loose lawn furniture or other items that could blow away.
