Ocmulgee River drops below flood stage in Macon

Flood waters receded hours earlier than expected in Macon.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday, the Ocmulgee River dropped below flood stage of 18 feet.

By 6:30 a.m., the river had dropped to 16.9 feet.

The National Weather Services Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service expects the Ocmulgee to reach flood stage of 20 feet in Hawkinsville by Friday and crest at 21.8 feet before receding early Saturday.
