The Whiskey Gentry is one of three bands that will be performing New Year’s Eve at the Centreplex Ballroom at the Macon Coliseum.

SPECIAL TO THE TELEGRAPH

Three bands will be headlining the city’s newest New Year’s Eve party Tuesday night. With The Whiskey Gentry, Tyler Hammond Band and WoolFolk performing at the Centreplex Ballroom, organizer David Higdon said he’s really excited about the event.

“This is our first New Year’s Eve Bash. We can’t wait to see the bands and have a good time,” said Higdon, who is the events manager for the Macon Marriott City Centre hotel and Macon Coliseum. “We are trying to encourage everyone to attend as many events as possible that evening. We aren’t trying to compete with other events and we think that there is time for everything. To that end, we are providing a trolley from the Centreplex Ballroom to the Terminal Station in downtown, where the ball drop will be.”

The evening’s music will begin at 8 p.m.

“We plan on rocking in the New Year,” Higdon said. “We are very music focused. All three of the bands have newly-released albums and will be touring in the following months. All of them are Georgia-based bands and will be bringing in the New Year with friends, fans and family. This will be the debut of the Tyler Hammond Band’s new CD. They are out of Milledgeville. WoolFolk are a band that we are really excited to help promote. They will definitely help to bring the party, and of course the Whiskey Gentry are a longtime favorite in the area and we are always thrilled to have them back.”

Higdon said this celebration’s food and drink won’t disappoint New year’s Eve revelers.

“There will be a bar available to everyone, as well as appetizers for purchase. With a VIP ticket, the food will be free and there will be an open bar. After midnight, there will be a full breakfast buffet catered by Vintage Restaurant and Bar. This will be complimentary with the VIP ticket, but available for purchase ala carte if anyone prefers that option,” he said.

Although the bands will definitely be the focus of the evening, Higdon said it will be a “wonderful celebration. Food, alcohol, dancing, music -- what more could anyone want? We encourage everyone to plan for safety, too. There are plenty of places to stay so that no one is on the road after drinking and we encourage people to use the trolley to get back and forth to any events that they might be attending.”
