Several local players will travel to Atlanta over the next week to participate in junior all-star games.

The Rising Seniors Foundation will host the AT&T Georgia Junior Bowl on New Year’s Eve at Grady High.

The game, which was created by former NFL players Joe Burns and Izell Reese, is in its fourth year of existence. Baldwin running back Kentavious Thomas, who recently received a scholarship offer from Mississippi State, and quarterback Tajhea Chambers are on the East team with Washington County quarterback/safety A.J. Gray and linebacker Will Coneway. Macon County’s hotly recruited linebacker Roquan Smith will play on the West squad.

Twenty-three of 247Sports’ top 30 junior prospects in the state will play in the Junior Bowl.

The other five will headline the rosters at the Elite Junior Classic, which will be held Saturday at McEachern.

The Junior Classic has more local ties to Middle Georgia.

Northside head coach Kevin Kinsler and Lamar County head coach Franklin Stephens will be assistant coaches on the South team alongside former Peach County and current Valdosta head coach Rance Gillespie. Berrien’s Ed Pilcher will be the head coach for the South. Former Mary Persons assistant and current Mays head coach Corey Jarvis will be on the North coaching staff.
