Christmas event looking for donations, volunteers

As Christmas approaches, organizers of the 18th annual Holiday Feast for All are looking for help with food, clothes, toys and other items to help make the holiday a little jollier for some in Macon.

This year’s event is at Terminal Station, 200 Cherry St.

Put together each year by Anita Ponder and her friends, the event is set from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday and provides a meal, clothing, haircuts, toys and personal items to attendees.

Organizers are looking for donations of clothes, socks, coats, men’s and women’s shoes (new or slightly used), toys, blankets and toiletries.

For the lunch, there is a need for cans of green beans, cranberry sauce and yams.

Donations can be dropped off at The Diversity House, 2020 Ingleside Ave., directly behind the old API school, according to an event flier.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call Ronena Ray at 478-569-6449. Volunteers can sign up from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Christmas Eve for set-up and gift wrapping, and on Christmas Day from 8-10 a.m.; 10 a.m.-noon; noon-2 p.m.; and 2-4 p.m.
