Authorities: Roberta man kills himself when faced with arrest warrant

A Roberta man shot himself to death when sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve him with an arrest warrant, according to a Thursday news release from the Crawford County sheriff’s office.

Deputies were attempting to serve William Bradley Wingo, 44, about 6 p.m. Wednesday at an address on South Dugger Avenue when Wingo shot himself, the release states.

Wingo’s body has been sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy. The GBI is investigating the incident due to the sheriff deputies’ involvement, the release states.

The release did not say what the charge was on the arrest warrant.
