Save the date for first-ever AC Pupfest

December 13, 2013

I know you’re probably wondering why I’m talking about 2014 already when we’re in the midst of celebrating the wonderful Christmas holiday. I certainly don’t want to rush this sacred season, but I don’t want you to miss out on something fantastic that’s happening in 2014.

Please go ahead and mark your brand new calendar for Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. If you haven’t gotten your 2014 calendar yet, just please put this important date on your refrigerator next to my picture.

You see, that is the day my nonprofit group Central Georgia CARES is teaming up with the great folks at Georgia Industrial Children’s Home to celebrate my fifth birthday. In fact, CARES and the children’s home think it’s a fabulous idea to pair kids and pets for lots of reasons.

We’ve celebrated each of my birthdays in very special ways. Each year it’s been a community party, and each one has been so much fun. I have a feeling my fifth birthday is going to be the biggest ever.

So an impressive committee of community powerhouses was formed to create a colossal event to recognize kids and pets. It will be the first-ever AC Pupfest!

The committee has been meeting for a few months and has churned out some amazing work! The model this committee has produced is something I think Macon will be very proud of.

Of course, I don’t want to reveal too many of the details yet, but I can tell you we’ll have something for everybody, young and old, furry and not so furry. We’ll have activities that will delight the kids, attractions that will interest adults and important services that will benefit people of all ages.

The entertainment will be pretty spectacular with singing and dancing. There will be a special event that will keep you laughing and talking for quite some time to come. It is an event like Macon has never seen before. I’m giggling just thinking about it. You’ll just have to see it for yourself. You’ll be giggling too.

One of the fascinating features we’ll have is a display of crafts created by the kids at Georgia Industrial Children’s Home. I think you’ll really like the items the kids make.

And you know we’ll have everything possible related to pets. We’ll have rescue groups with their beautiful pets for adoption, pet professionals offering the latest information on keeping your pet in tip-top shape and vendors of all kinds.

I’m excited about my birthday party Feb. 22. But I’m even more excited about CARES’ partnership with Georgia Industrial Children’s Home and the tremendous opportunities this partnership will offer to our region.

Plan on joining me as we celebrate. I’ll be looking for you!
