Nominations sought for Georgia’s outstanding young peanut farmer

Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Georgia Young Peanut Farmer.

The award is based on the applicant’s overall farm operation, environmental and stewardship practices, as well as leadership, civic, church and community service activities, according to a news release. Applications must be received by Jan. 3.

Nominees must be an active Georgia peanut farmer who is not older than 45 as of Jan. 16, 2014. A farmer may receive the award only once. There is no limit on the number of applicants from each county in Georgia.

The state winner will be announced at the Georgia Peanut Farm Show on Jan. 16 in Tifton.
