Some story lines to what to watch this weekend (and Monday since it has been a slow week) in the A-Sun.

1. Back in action: Mercer has been off all week for finals (most of the other teams have been too). The Bears (6-4) return to the court Monday at home against Alcorn State.

2. SoCon showdowns: The weekend includes two A-Sun/Southern Conference matchups as Florida Gulf Coast (4-4) hosts Samford and Northern Kentucky (1-7) hosts Chattanooga. A-Sun teams are 4-3 against Southern Conference teams this season.

3. Leaders: USC Upstate's Torrey Craig tops the conference in scoring at 18.1 points per game, while East Tennessee State's A.J. Merriweather is first in rebounding at 7.4.

4. New identity?: Long known for defense, Bob Hoffman's Mercer Bears are putting up some impressive offensive numbers. The Bears lead the conference in scoring (84.1 points per game), field goal shooting (47.6 percent), free-throw shooting (74.3 percent) and scoring margin (plus-9.6), while trying for second in 3-point shooting (35.6 percent).
