Crawford County sheriff’s investigators have determined that a 3-year-old Musella boy was not bitten by a dog, but was a victim of negligence.

The child’s uncle, 18-year-old Mark William Fogleman, was arrested Thanksgiving Day on a charge of cruelty to children by negligence, according to news releases from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called Nov. 27 to a reported dog bite case on Clay Road and found an adult male holding the injured, naked child.

Investigators concluded that the boy was not bitten by a dog, but had sustained injuries while left unattended for an extended period of time, according to an updated release Wednesday.

The child’s mother, Sarah Fogleman, 22, was arrested Dec. 3 and also charged with cruelty to children by negligence.

Her child is in the care of the Department of Family and Children Services.
