Macon Underground

Friday at Fresh Produce Records (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard)

I’ve been craving a record store in downtown since I first started spending the majority of my time down here. Now that Fresh Produce is open, they not only have a great selection of records to peruse, they have started a night of music featuring the musicians, singers and DJs who aren’t normally in the spotlight here in Macon. This month’s edition features B3, DJ Squirrelly, Tendo, the Based Clique Music Group and more. All ages. 6 p.m. Free.

Amerigo Gazaway

Friday at Roasted Cafe and Lounge

Amerigo Gazaway is a DJ who’s style appeals to hip-hop lovers as well as soul aficionados and record collectors. He blends classic and rare soul into a backing rhythm and then tops it off with lyrics from classic hip-hop tracks making old favorites sound fresh and new. This night isn’t just a night for the music fanatics, there’s plenty of bass and bouncy beats perfect for dancing! 18 and up. 10 p.m. Free.

Monty Cole Quintet

The Jazz Association of Macon celebrates the holiday season with its Holiday Jam! This year, Holiday Jam features the music of the Monty Cole Quintet. Cole is a professor at Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music. Macon Pops

Saturday at the City Auditorium

Everyone who was at the debut concert of Steve Moretti and Matt Catingub’s Macon Pops Orchestra knows that a Macon Pops show is an incredible music and dancing experience. This month’s concert is a holiday celebration full of surprises, including vocals from Atlanta’s Maia Nicole, and a special performance from Macon’s own Floco Torres. This event is almost sold out; only balcony seats remain. All ages. 7:30 p.m. $17.70. For more information, visit www.maconpops.com.
