Macon police responded to an armed robbery outside a convenience store late Monday night.

The incident happened about 11:45 p.m. at Sprint Food, located at 2075 Rocky Creek Road, according to a police incident report.

Lala Bhai Patel, 31, told police he had walked to the store’s Dumpster to throw away cardboard boxes before the store’s closing at midnight. He said he was approached by a masked man with a gun who demanded money.

While reaching for his wallet, Patel dropped it on the ground and ran back into the store, he said. The masked man, who wore all black, took the wallet and fled on foot. The masked man did not touch Patel, according to the report.
