GHSA committee selects new regions

THOMASTON – Despite the possibility of some unpredictable regions, most Middle Georgia schools weren’t greatly affected by GHSA region reclassification on Tuesday.

The reclassification committee kept the three largest Houston County schools and Jones County in Region 2-AAAAA with schools from the Augusta area.

Rutland and Westside dropped down a classification to AAA, and they will join Central, Southwest and Peach County in a region with Jackson and three Columbus schools.

Region 4-AA, which was composed of all Middle Georgia schools, stayed intact minus Taylor County, which dropped to Class A.

The committee put FPD, Mount de Sales, Stratford and Tattnall Square in together in Region 7-A with Twiggs County, Wilkinson County, GMC and some Augusta area schools.
