Lane closures expected for I-16 guardrail repairs

Work crews are expected to close lanes on Interstate 16 for guardrail repairs Wednesday in Bibb and Twiggs counties.

If weather permits, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close the eastbound right lane of I-16 at mile marker 6.9 in Bibb County, near Exit 6, between 8 and 10 a.m.

Crews will move to the westbound lanes and close the right lane near mile marker 4.1 in Bibb County between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The work moves to westbound mile marker 3.2 in Bibb County from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. with a left lane closed.

In Twiggs County, work is scheduled between 10 and 11:30 a.m. in the eastbound right lane near mile marker 11.3, not far from Exit 12 at Sgoda Road.

Work will be done in half-mile to 1-mile increments and shift frequently.
