A Bibb County grand jury indicted a Macon man Tuesday in a fatal shooting in Macons Village Green neighborhood.
The grand jury charged Quinton Lavere Jones with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in the death of Steven Johnson, who was shot Aug. 4.
Johnson, 35, was shot at 5761 Frederica Place. Jones had been dating the mother of Johnsons child. She told Jones she wanted to end their relationship.
Jones shot Johnson four times in a house with nine witnesses, according to arrest warrants.
Jones was arrested within days of the shooting by members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, which had traced Jones to a house near Ga. 247 and Barnes Ferry Road in south Bibb County. He reportedly came out of the house with his hands up to surrender.
Jones was denied bond and remains in the Bibb County jail.
