Washington County senior Shon Kitchens signed a basketball scholarship with Mercer.

Kitchens has helped the Golden Hawks go 90-3 during her time there. They won three straight region title and won the Class AAA title in 2011.

She averaged more than 20 points per game as a junior.

"Shonterria Kitchens is a state champion at Washington County High School and knows how to win," Mercer head coach Susie Gardner said. "She has great athleticism and will be more a wing player for our team. Shon will be a great addition to our program and fits well into our overall defensive philosophy."

Kitchens is the second consecutive WACO player to sign a Division I basketball scholarship after Allisha Gray signed with North Carolina last year.
