Police arrested a man Friday afternoon after responding to a burglary in progress call at the Mini-Foods at 36 Spring St. in downtown Macon.
When police arrived at the business about 3:15 p.m. Friday, they saw that the right entrance door was shattered and a man was inside the store, according to a news release.
Officers arrested 38 year-old Ashley Banning Barnes. Police found two 12 packs of beer on the side of the business and burglary tools, including a hacksaw and hatchet, according to the release. Additionally, two financial cards were found in the suspects bag.
Barnes is charged with first degree burglary, financial transaction card theft and possession of tools for commission of a crime. He is in the Bibb County jail with a $13,450 bond.
