A precise description of an armed robber helped Macon police catch a suspect within minutes of the holdup Friday morning.

Shortly after 11 a.m., E-911 operators dispatched an armed robbery in progress at the Family Dollar at 2529 Houston Avenue.

The black male was described as being about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, dressed in a black hooded jacket with an orange towel hanging from it and blue jeans.

Macon police caught a man matching the description and detectives will interview witnesses at the scene to make sure it is the same person who robbed the store.

No further details were immediately available.
