Stein Mart, CARES team up Saturday for Socks for Soldiers

Staff reportNovember 7, 2013

A Socks for Soldiers program is scheduled from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday to provide socks and undergarments to American soldiers.

Stein Mart, 4337 Forsyth Road in Macon, is giving shoppers a coupon for 20 percent off any one sale item in exchange for a package of socks or underwear purchased at its store.

The USO will ship the donated clothing to soldiers in time for Christmas, according to a news release from animal advocacy group Central Georgia CARES, which is partnering with Stein Mart for the event.

The day’s activities include grilling at neighboring Fresh Market from noon until 5 p.m., a fashion show at Stein Mart beginning at 1 p.m. and an appearance by AC Pup at 2:15 p.m. Door prizes will be given.

The event, billed as a community appreciation day in honor of American soliders and the city of Macon, is open to the public.
