Bryan Nichols, owner.
Business: Taste and See Coffee Shop and Gallery, 546 Poplar St., Macon, 238-5191, www.tasteandseecoffee.com.
How long have you been in business?: Nichols and his partner, Kevin Reaves, originally planned for a photo gallery featuring Reaves photography, about two months ago.
When Joshua Cup closed down we thought that downtown needed to have another coffee shop ... (which) would be upscale and more of a family environment, Nichols said. It would be a place for people to study, hang out or spend time with friends.
So, we decided to put in a coffee shop in with the art gallery, he said.
What do you like best about your job?: Nichols enjoys providing a place where people feel like they are transported to a cabin in the woods. The rustic wood décor inside the coffee shop is inspired by Reaves nature-inspired photography and is handmade from the state of Washington. We both like the rustic style and we thought it would be nice to bring part of that environment to Macon, he said.
What is your specialty?: The shop offers organic coffee, teas, smoothies and pastries. The top coffee drink is called liquid gold.
It has really grown now to where there are so many different specialties, he said. I mean, its ... almost hard to keep up with.
What are your future plans?: Nichols has tentative plans for expansion and renovation outside the coffee shop. He may purchase an alley from the city and provide outdoor seating, he said.
