Fort Valley man shot, killed

A man was found shot to death early Sunday behind the Valley Pines Apartments in Fort Valley.

A man was shot to death early Sunday in Fort Valley.

Police responded to a shots fired call at 1101 Orange St. at 1:30 a.m. and found 20-year-old Gabriel Jackson shot to death behind Valley Pines Apartment Complex, Building A, according to a news release.

Jackson had been shot several times in the upper torso. He lived in the 800 block of Orange Street.

Jonathan Baldwin, 24, who lives in the apartment complex where Jackson was found, was arrested, the release states. Charges were not immediately available.

The GBI and Peach County Sheriff’s Department are assisting Fort Valley police. An autopsy is planned.

“The investigation is ongoing at this time,” Chief Lawrence Z. Spurgeon said in the release.
