Wesleyan College has new mascot

Staff reportOctober 30, 2013

The Wesleyan College athletics department has a new mascot: the Wesleyan College Wolves.

Students had asked for a mascot that could have a visual presence at games and on campus. Wesleyan College will remain the Pioneers for the school’s achievements in women’s education.

“Although Wesleyan always will be Pioneers at heart, we are excited about unveiling a new mascot for our athletic teams that will create a more tangible connection with students and fans,” Wesleyan College President Ruth Knox said in a release.

In making the transition, Wesleyan will go through a gradual process of rolling out new uniforms, warm-ups and other items that feature the new Wolves mascot. The athletics department has also acquired a wolf mascot uniform.
