Marching bands will show off their moves Sunday during the Original Battle of the Bands Macon Marching Band Festival at the new Mercer University football stadium.

The Cherry Blossom Festival and Geico are sponsoring the 3 p.m. event that will feature high school marching bands using the traditional 90 degree knee lift style pioneered by Big Ten university marching bands, according to a news release.

The festival also will feature performances by Fort Valley State University’s “Blue Machine,” Albany State University’s “Marching Rams,” and Morehouse College’s “House of Funk.”

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the gate, with $3-$5 going to the marching bands.

They can be purchased from Habersham Cd’s Record & Tape, 1477 Pio Nono Ave., Cut Close barbershop, and from band students from Southwest, Northeast and Central high schools.
