A 61-year-old Macon man became the 10th pedestrian to be killed on city streets in 2013.

Luther Wright, of the Sulphur Springs Retreat for Elderly at 1154 Magnolia Drive, died at 11 p.m. Sunday at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

“He died of blunt force trauma and internal injures,” said Jones said.

Wright was walking in the 900 block of Magnolia Drive in Fort Hill when he was hit by a Honda CRV about 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver scooped him up and carried him to Coliseum Hospital, but he was transferred to the Medical Center later that day, according to Macon police.

Wright’s glasses, shoe, broken cellphone, sack lunch and two books were scattered in the road where he was hit.
