A 31-year-old Crawford County man is accused of murder after his stepbrother was mortally wounded from a shotgun blast late Tuesday night.

Jason Dillard Beckham was arrested that night at the house, on Blasingame Road in Fort Valley, that he shared with 36-year-old Travis Daniel Nigro, according to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

The men argued inside the house, and the fight spilled outside where Nigro was shot in the abdomen with a 12 gauge Mossberg model 500 pump shot gun, which was recovered as evidence, the release stated.

Bond was denied for Beckham in Magistrate Court Wednesday.

He is charged with felony murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.

Nigro’s body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy, but no further information was released about the crime or a motive for the argument.
