Miller teacher selected for council

Kendra Castelow, Miller Elementary School English to Speakers of Other Languages teacher, has been selected as a regional liaison for the Georgia Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages and a member-at-large on the executive board. The organizations encourage professional development, opportunities for study and research and other initiatives.

Houston, Peach students among GOAL nominees

Eight students from Houston and Peach counties are among the 16 Central Georgia Technical College students nominated for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership.

GOAL, a statewide program, honors academic excellence and leadership in technical college students. Winners are selected at each of the state’s technical colleges, according to a news release.

The nominees for Central Georgia Tech are: Alan Atkinson of Macon, Kerris Beddingfield of Eatonton, Jarvaris Bennett of Gay, Austin Carver of Hawkinsville, Jonathan Davidson of Danville, Dawn Hall of Warner Robins, Kalonda Hughes of Bonaire, Kisha Johnson of Perry, Pamela ‘Sissy’ Jordan of Macon, Erica Joyner of Byron, Geordon Martin of Warner Robins, Daniel Merrett of Warner Robins, Kristen Nelson of Byron, Stephanie Posey of Gray, Michelle Turner of Bonaire, and Riley Windham of Jeffersonville.

Four finalists will be announced Oct. 31 and from there a winner will be chosen, the release states.
