The parents of a 2-month-old Milledgeville girl are being held at the Baldwin County jail without bond on murder charges.
Milledgeville police went to an apartment in the 100 block of North Lincoln Street on Sept. 3 after receiving a report of a deceased infant. When they arrived, Makenzie Hartry was dead in her parents bedroom where she also had a bed, said investigator Scott Goodwin.
An autopsy performed by the GBI later determined the child died of blunt force trauma, he said.
Police have not released details of how Makenzie became injured or what weapon was used.
Tamarus Dante Hartry, 27, and Jessica Driskell, 25, were charged with murder and cruelty to children in the first degree on Friday, according to a police news release.
Goodwin said two other children under age 10 lived in the household.
