A 16-year-old Central High School student was hit by a car on Napier Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

She was crossing with others when a car came down the street, hit her and left the scene, said Ronnie Tolbert, who had just dropped his daughter off near Blackmon Avenue.

“This Honda, this white Honda, came down through here flying. It just came through the kids,” Tolbert said. “Some were just crossing, some were crossed, and it came through them and hit one of the kids.”

The car turned onto Holt Avenue, he said, and kept going.

Macon police are looking for a 2009 or 2010 Honda, Accord or Civic, with the passenger side mirror knocked off and a broken headlight.

Assistant principal Michael Blankenship said he was not sure of the girl’s condition, but she was conscious when taken away by ambulance.
