An Oklahoma-based company has acquired 10 grocery stores in Georgia, including some in the midstate.
The purchase by HAC Inc., an employee-owned supermarket chain based in Oklahoma City, includes the Belle Foods store -- formerly Piggly Wiggly -- on Rocky Creek Road, which was announced last week.
The other stores acquired include Belle Foods or Piggly Wiggly stores in Warner Robins, Gordon, East Dublin, Cochran, Eastman, Monroe, Dawson and two stores in Milledgeville, according to a news release.
The company does not plan to change store names at this time, and existing employees have been offered jobs with the new company, Christina Pfenninger, marketing research specialist for HAC, said in an email.
Customers can expect to see improved quality of perishables, lower prices and an expanded and improved private label offering, Pfenninger said.
