The federal government shutdown is delaying the scheduled release Thursday of the Georgia unemployment rate.
The state unemployment rate is normally released on the third Thursday of each month.
However, because of the federal shutdown, the Georgia Department of Labor will be unable to provide the data, Sam Hall, director of communications, said in an email.
All state departments of labor are required to get the data approved by the U.S. Department of Labors Bureau of Labor Statistics before publication.
The state will be unable to release the unemployment rate or employment data for September until the Bureau of Labor Statistics office reopens, Hall said.
