A portion of White Road in Byron will close Saturday for the Susan G. Komen 5K Race for the Cure at North Peach Park.

Other roads are also expected to be closed for the 5K walk and run, which raises funds for education and research in the fight against breast cancer.

Starting at 8 a.m., White Road will be closed from the intersection of Peavy Road and James E. Williams Parkway to Ga. 49, a Byron police news release states. Race participants are asked to use New Dunbar Road to access designated parking behind Byron Elementary and Byron Middle schools.

No parking will be permitted along White Road.

Byron police are expected start closing other roads at 8:45 a.m. to all traffic along the route. Those roads include Walker Road from Allred Road to White Road, Majestic Oak Circle, Willow Oak Way, and Red Oak Road from Willow Oak Way to White Road.

Roads will reopen as participants finish the walk and run.
