AC Pup thanks supporters for his Dog TV win

AC Pup’s entry in the Dog TV logo contest, which he won.

SPECIAL TO THE TELEGRAPH

What a difference a week makes. Last week I was asking you to vote for me in the Dog TV logo contest. And this week I had a party to celebrate winning the contest. To say my head is spinning would be an enormous understatement.

Dog TV is the television channel devoted to pets and the people that love them. It recently ran a logo contest asking dogs to submit their photos to be used on the channel.

So when my Aunt Patti Jones and my mom, Tracie VanDeWalker, learned of the contest, the race was on. They were determined to put me out there.

They searched for just the right photo that would attract attention since they knew there would be a ton of contestants. In fact, there were about 3,200 beautiful dogs that entered the race. Honestly, there were some that were so special even I voted for them.

Even though the other dogs were wonderful, I did want to win. After all, that’s why I was in the race.

I wanted to win not only for my nonprofit group, Central Georgia CARES and the Homeless Pet Clubs, for which I’m also the mascot, but also for my hometown that I love so very much because it’s filled with people that care about animals.

It was my wonderful friends that pushed me ahead in this very, very close competition. In fact, my fabulous supporters rallied and cheered me on encouraging others to vote for me as well.

If it weren’t for each of you, the prize would have eluded us, but you were determined to help me win. To all those folks that voted for me and asked others to as well, please know how grateful I am to you. Thank you so very much.

Do you know why that’s so special to me? Not because I can claim the title of winner of the Dog TV contest, although that’s quite an honor. Not because I had a magical celebratory party, although that was a party of a lifetime.

It’s because I think people believe in what CARES and I represent. I feel like the people that care about animals are ready to take a stand for animals. People are ready to speak up. People are ready to be animal advocates.

And I believe the people that voted for me in this contest and propelled me to the top spot were not just hoping I would win, but that homeless, abandoned and abused animals would win. I can promise you that whatever attention ever comes my way, it will be used to shine light on animals in need. After all, I think animals are sort of a big deal and I’m glad you do, too.
