Bibb County grand jurors have indicted a 34-year-old Macon man on allegations he used gasoline to start a fire July 20 at a house while two women and a 10-day-old baby were inside.
William Giles III, of College Street, is charged with arson, criminal attempt to commit a felony, terroristic threats and three counts of aggravated assault, according to an indictment filed Tuesday in Bibb County Superior Court.
The terroristic threats charge stems from a threat Giles allegedly made July 1 that involved arson and aggravated assault, according to the indictment.
A woman at the house, located on Cedar Street, smelled smoke and called 911 before the flames did much damage, said prosecutor Dorothy Hull.
County jail records show Giles was held at the jail on a terroristic threats charge and state court probation violation from July 20 to about 8 p.m. Tuesday when he was released on bond. Hull said Giles will be re-arrested on the new charges from the indictment.
