A 32-year-old man wanted by Macon police in a 2012 armed robbery, beating and shooting was captured Tuesday by members of the Southwestern Regional Fugitive Task Force.
A Macon Regional CrimeStoppers tip led authorities to find Samuel Lawrence in San Antonio, Texas, according to a police news release. Previous tipsters had claimed to have seen Lawrence in Boston.
Lawrence allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint in Macon on Aug. 23, 2012. He and another suspect beat the man with the gun and their fists. They took his money and a cellphone before forcing him outside, where a brief scuffle ensued over the gun.
The victim ran down the street and Lawrence shot at him multiple times, striking him in the leg, according to police.
