Two men bashed their way through the glass doors of two Jones County businesses in 20 minutes early Monday on Gray Highway.

From surveillance photos, both are believed to be white men in their late teens or early 20s who burglarized the Old Clinton Gas & Grocery and Creekside Gas between 1:35 a.m. and 1:50 a.m., according to a news release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the images shows a burglar swiping the Creekside cash register off the counter. Cash registers were also taken in the Old Clinton Gas break-in.

“Nothing else was disturbed, nothing else was taken, and there were lottery tickets and cigarettes near those registers,” said Clay Wiggins of the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

One suspect was wearing a light-color ski mask and jacket over cargo shorts with drawstring legs and tennis shoes.

The second man was heavyset, with a dark pullover hoodie, cargo shorts and sneakers.

They are believed to be traveling in a dark, 4-door, mid-size sedan.

The owner of Old Clinton Gas will pay a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
