Free midstate museum tickets available Saturday

Staff reportSeptember 27, 2013

Middle Georgia residents can get tickets for free admission to museums across the midstate Saturday thanks to Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Live!

The tickets are good for two admissions per household. To get them, go to the Smithsonian website, and fill out a form. Your ticket will be emailed to you afterward. You must then print your ticket and present it to receive free admission.

Not all museums are participating. The Smithsonian site has a list of those that are on its “find a museum” page.

Every participating museum will accept a printed Museum Day Live! ticket. Museums that are willing to accept an “e-ticket” on the screen of a smartphone will have that fact on their museum page.

Here are some of the museums across the midstate that are participating Saturday, according to the Smithsonian site:

• Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, Macon;

• Georgia’s Old Capital Museum, Milledgeville;

• Hay House, Macon;

• Madison Museum of Fine Art, Madison;

• Ocmulgee National Monument, Macon;

• The Old Governor’s Mansion, Milledgeville;

• Georgia College Natural History Museum and Planetarium, Milledgeville.
