A man attempted to shoplift a surveillance system and shirts from Wal-Mart on Zebulon Road, and a high-speed chase ensued about 5 p.m., according to a Bibb County sheriffs report.
Employees reported seeing a man pushing a cart with a large package hidden inside one of the shirts. When they confronted him, the man fled the store with the shirts and left the package, according to a sheriffs report.
The responding deputy said he spotted a black Dodge Charger the suspect was driving and followed it from Foster Road to Tucker Road. The deputy turned on his lights as they approached Peake Road, where the car appeared to be pulling over. The car sped off, and the deputy pursued it at speeds topping 90 mph.
After turning on to Thomaston Road, the chase reached speeds of 110 to 115 mph and the suspect was driving on both sides of the road, according to the report.
