PERRY - A Houston County grand jury has indicted three men in connection with three commercial burglaries in June. Two of the men had been the subject of a manhunt.

Marcell Denard Harris, 27, Cornelius Antonio Redding, 24, and Dion Kelvin Murray, 26, all of Macon, were each indicted on three counts of burglary.

The men are accused of burglarizing R&K Grocery Store in Hawkinsville on June 12, EZ Buy Sunoco convenience store in Houston County on June 14 and Speedy 3 convenience store in Perry on June 21.

Murray, Harris and Redding are accused of breaking into the Speedy 3 convenience store at 1542 Houston Lake Road at 4 a.m. by busting the front glass doors and then stealing cigarette cartons, cigar items and miscellaneous store merchandise, police said.

While Perry police were at the crime scene, a Peach County sheriff’s deputy came upon Murray stuck in a ditch after wrecking at Ga. 96 and U.S. 41.

A manhunt for the remaining two suspects ensued with the use of a Georgia State Patrol helicopter. A woman in the Erin Glenn subdivision off U.S. 41 called 911 after seeing two men running through the backyard.

Harris and Redding were taken into custody on Erin Way by police officers and sheriff’s deputies at 6:30 a.m. Residents in the area reported seeing the helicopter circling overhead and two to three dozen law enforcement vehicles in the area.
