A popular Macon eatery became a crime scene late Friday when an assistant manager was shot during a holdup at the S&S Cafeteria on Riverside Drive.

Three masked suspects wearing all black entered the restaurant at about 10 p.m., after it had closed, according to a police department release. The manager was shot and the suspects fled the scene.

The suspects are believed to have been driving what was described only as a black four-door vehicle. The manager was taken to a local hospital and treated, the release stated.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 751-7500 or Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME. No patrons were in the building at the time.

The restaurant near the juncture of Pierce Avenue was open for business Saturday.
