Two lanes of Interstate 75 through Macon will be closed for paving this weekend, while one on-ramp will close next weekend, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced Friday.

The inside lanes of north- and southbound I-75 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday for paving between Pierce Avenue and Arkwright Road, according to a news release from Kimberly Larson, GDOT communications officer for the Thomaston District Office.

The northbound on-ramp at Pierce Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. Sept. 27 to 6 a.m. Sept. 30.

GDOT asks motorists to slow down in work zones, which are marked by message board, barrels and cones.

Real-time traffic information on specific routes is available 24 hours a day by dialing 511, a free phone service. Accidents or the need for help can also be reported through that number. The service is also available online at 511ga.org.
