Guests at Thursdays Toast and Taste at the Hay House will get a chance to sample some of the best food and drink in the midstate.
Organizers have revamped one of the historical homes annual fundraisers and changed its name.
Its not a revival but an update to our Seasons of the Vineyard we have typically done in November, said Susannah Maddux, Hay House board of directors president-elect. We decided to move it up to separate it from Christmas. We have lots of exciting things going on there at Christmas, too.
The event focuses on local and regional drinks from a handful of regional distilleries, breweries and vineyards, and food made by chefs at some of the areas finest restaurants.
Chefs from Downtown Grill, Dovetail, Marco Ristorante Italiano, Market City Cafe, the Tic Toc Room, Harpins, Grits and many other restaurants will prepare specialties such as crab tartlets, shrimp and grits and banana pudding.
Macon Beer Co. and Southbound Brewing will serve beer. Vixen Vodka, Thirteenth Colony Distilleries, Georgia Distilling and Richland Distilling will serve gin, moonshine, rum and whiskey; and Still Pond Vineyards and Vineville Beverage will serve wines.
Were working to pair the drinks with the tastes, which will be prepared by about 15 of the best local chefs, Maddux said.
In addition to the food and drink, the evening will feature live and silent auctions of prizes including vacation homes and packages, bottles of the beverages being served and the chance to bid on a dinner party at the winners house with the meal being prepared by one of the chefs taking part in the Toast and Taste event.
Live music will be provided throughout the evening.
Toast and Taste is one of three major fundraisers held to benefit Hay House each year, with the springs garden and house tour being the largest, Maddux said.
Well have lots of different foods and drinks, and were hoping for an exciting kickoff to fall at the Hay House, she said, adding that the event has taken place for more than 10 years.
The $40 tickets, which include Hay House patronage, may be purchased online at www.hayhouse.org or by calling 478-742-8155.
