Weekend road construction is expected to slow Interstate 75 traffic in Macon and to the south.

The most serious work will close two-thirds of the I-75 travel lanes near where the highway goes through Bibb, Crawford and Peach counties in a short distance. Sunday night, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., two of three southbound travel lanes will close for maintenance. Monday night, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., two of three northbound travel lanes will close, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The Pierce Avenue northbound on-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday .

For most of the weekend, both inside lanes of I-75 will be closed for paving between Pierce Avenue and Arkwright Road.
