Buzzell: Episcopal women’s group getting ready for casserole sale

September 18, 2013

It’s the time of year for the Episcopal Church Women of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Warner Robins to host their popular casserole sale so that freezers throughout Houston County are well stocked for the holidays ahead. The orders are limited in number, with orders being taken through Oct. 15.

It is important to note that only a limited number of casseroles are made, so if the total sales are reached before the Oct. 15 deadline, orders will be cut off. That means ... order early!

The casseroles are chicken, squash, broccoli and sweet potato (a big hit at Thanksgiving), fully cooked and frozen, and are made only from fresh and whole ingredients.

All casseroles are $12 each, and orders can be placed in several ways. Mail your order with a check enclosed to All Saints’ Episcopal Church (Attn: ECW Casserole), 1708 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA 31093. Orders can be placed by calling Imogene Yongue, 478-922-5272; Wynette Ginn, 478-953-6643; or Linda Gerdes at the church office, 478-923-1791. With this option, all checks must be mailed to the church before the deadline. Orders can also be placed with any ECW member or in person at the church.

Proceeds from the casserole sale are used in a variety of ways to fund ECW projects throughout the year including Cherished Children’s Daycare facility, Phoenix Center and Gateway Cottage. Thirteen local elementary and middle schools also have benefited from funds to assist children and families facing emergency situations.

Proceeds are also used to provide gift certificates for Thanksgiving baskets prepared by the church to purchase meat for the dinner. Programs within the church that benefit from funds raised by the sale include the Food Pantry, Ladies Softball Team, the Shawl Ministry and the Rector’s Discretionary Fund.

The casseroles can be picked up at the church Parish Hall on Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the annual ECW Marketplace and Nov. 10 from noon to 1 p.m. The marketplace will be filled with local vendors in time to do some Christmas shopping. There will be antiques, wreaths, baskets, jewelry, crafts, candles, dolls and, of course, baked goodies. Lunch of soup and sandwiches also will be served for those who plan to spend the day shopping.

For more information about the ECW Marketplace or to sign up to become a vendor, call Linda Christie at 478-953-4046 or 478-731-1341.
