A major $7 million renovation and expansion of the Kroger store in north Bibb County is complete.
The project, which added about 29,000 square feet to the now 83,000-square-foot building at 200 Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard, began about a year ago. The store remained open during construction.
This specific Kroger location has been a part of the Macon community since 1988, Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Krogers Atlanta Division, said in a news release.
The stores last major remodel was in 2001, Jenkins said.
The store includes several new amenities, including an expanded deli with a new cheese/olive shop, a sushi island, a bistro with hot and cold prepared meals and more checkout lanes.
As part of its re-grand opening, Kroger is donating 100 smoke detectors and batteries to the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department. It also is donating $500 to the Bibb County Sheriffs Office for its youth program called Champs.
