Some Bibb County elementary school students heard threatening remarks and thought theyd seen a gun in the hands of an 11-year-old male student Wednesday.
The school system said in a statement Thursday that no gun was found at Carter Elementary School after Wednesdays incident. Students reported it Thursday morning to school administrators. They, in turn, contacted campus police, who searched rooms.
The fifth-grade section of the school was disrupted from mid-morning until about noon, said David Gowan, the Bibb County school systems director of risk management.
Gowan said it wasnt clear whether there was just one incident Wednesday or several. Thats part of the ongoing investigation, which also includes what kind of gun may have been shown and exactly where the incident took place.
Gowan said he couldnt confirm to whom the threats were made.
The school is sending a letter home to parents and also called them, the system said in a statement.
