John was working at the scene of a traffic crash on Interstate 75 on July 11 when a car struck him.
The race will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Public Safety Memorial Park, located at Mulberry and Second streets in downtown Macon.
A fitness challenge is open to the first 50 racers to register. Registration costs $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the race. The fee includes a T-shirt.
